Malton is an
ancient market town situated on the river Derwent, mid-way between York and Scarborough. It dates back to
pre-Roman times and has many listed buildings. in medieval times it had a Norman castle and has also boasted its
own racecourse. This has gone but training of race horses is still a main business of the town. The market is
held on Saturdays.
